Suzann Pettersen went wire-to-wire to win her fifth LPGA Tour event of the season—and career—at the Honda LPGA Thailand 2007. If only wire-to-wire meant smooth sailing. It appeared there was no way Pettersen (65-68-63-71=267, -21) could avoid cashing the $195,000 winner's check after she fired a third-round 9-under-par 63 to hold a seven-stroke, 54-hole lead at 196 (-20) over Laura Davies (71-66-66-65=268, -20). But Davies was persistent in her quest for Tour victory number 21. She was bogey-free between the eighth hole of the second round and the 16th hole of the final round. In the final round, Pettersen posted a 1-over-par 37 on the front nine, while Davies started the round eagle-birdie and added another birdie on the par-5, seventh to turn at 4-under-par on the day, 17-under-par for the tournament. Another birdie on the 10th, and Davies was within one stroke of Pettersen. Pettersen carded a birdie on the 11th, but Davies would go on to outscore Pettersen 1-under to 1-over on holes 12 through 17 to be tied at 19-under-par. On 18, both players nailed their drives and hit the green in two. Davies barely missed her 25-foot eagle putt and birdied the hole, while Pettersen's grip 3-wood from 225 yards landed to within 15 feet of the hole for the eagle putt, which sealed the win.
